Kurt Porter

Kurt is a local Wajarri and Nanda man, having moved back home after 10 years in Perth.

Kurt comes to us with a background of administration in Aboriginal Education and Training, and Health programs.


Kurt has held a range of positions throughout his career across State and Federal Government and the non-for-profit sector, including Administrative Officer at SMYL Community Services, working across 4 different programs including Group Training, Registered Training Organisation and administrated the Adult Migrant English Program across regional sites.

More recently, Kurt worked as Senior Workforce Development Officer at the Mental Health Commission, coordinating the training and compliance requirements of the organisation. Kurt also did a brief stint as Human Resources Officer at the Rottnest Island Authority.

At Carnarvon Common Ground, Kurt assists with corporate functions such as Marketing and Governance.

Our Artists

Respected member of Carnarvon Common Ground, Devinia Wainwright collaborated and mentored Theonie McKenna to create the artwork for the Project. This piece tells the story of our community walking together toward a shared future. It represents the Common Ground as a place where services and community unite to provide support, guidance, connection, and healing for our youth and families.

The river meeting the sea – a landmark of Carnarvon -symbolises peace, grounding, and our deep connection to spirit and ancestors who walk with us every day. Our lands and ocean sustain us with traditional foods like mullet, kangaroo, and turtle, keeping us strong and healthy while preserving our culture for generations to come.
