Devinia Wainwright

Devinia Wainwright is a local Merium Mer woman who has held many roles throughout her professional career. One of our founding members, you may know Devinia from her roles such as Regional Coordinator for Aboriginal Training at CR TAFE and at Community Population Health with Department of Health. 

A qualified social worker by trade and has utilised these skills within her career as an Art Therapist, and various roles within Community Services and Health organisations.  
Devinia understands ‘what systems we’re working with, and that they’re not providing the services our people need’ and hopes that the Carnarvon Common Ground can provide a platform for community and service providers to collaborate and enact lasting change. 

Devinia is passionate about creating economic opportunities for Mob and hopes to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation within the Education and Training sector.

Our Artists

Respected member of Carnarvon Common Ground, Devinia Wainwright collaborated and mentored Theonie McKenna to create the artwork for the Project. This piece tells the story of our community walking together toward a shared future. It represents the Common Ground as a place where services and community unite to provide support, guidance, connection, and healing for our youth and families.

The river meeting the sea – a landmark of Carnarvon -symbolises peace, grounding, and our deep connection to spirit and ancestors who walk with us every day. Our lands and ocean sustain us with traditional foods like mullet, kangaroo, and turtle, keeping us strong and healthy while preserving our culture for generations to come.
