Skyla Brown

Skyla Brown is a local Gija, Nhanda, Njamal and Wadjarri woman, currently on secondment from her substantive position as Prevention Officer with the Community Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS).

Skyla has been involved in Carnarvon Common Ground since 2024, attending community meetings in an advisory capacity. Throughout her career, Skyla has held a range of jobs throughout the Community Services sector, including Case Manager at Mission Australia, Recruitment Officer at MAX Employment Agency.

Holding a Certificate III in Community Services and Certificate IV in Mental Health, Skyla brings a wealth of knowledge in Alcohol and other Drugs and Mental Health to the Carnarvon Common Ground.
In her role at Carnarvon Common Ground, Skyla is our Lead Project Officer for the Banksia Hill Inreach Program and the Juvenile Justice Team (JJT) Conferencing Programs.

Our Artists

Respected member of Carnarvon Common Ground, Devinia Wainwright collaborated and mentored Theonie McKenna to create the artwork for the Project. This piece tells the story of our community walking together toward a shared future. It represents the Common Ground as a place where services and community unite to provide support, guidance, connection, and healing for our youth and families.

The river meeting the sea – a landmark of Carnarvon -symbolises peace, grounding, and our deep connection to spirit and ancestors who walk with us every day. Our lands and ocean sustain us with traditional foods like mullet, kangaroo, and turtle, keeping us strong and healthy while preserving our culture for generations to come.
